In this blog, DOT Rwanda staff member Darius Twamihigo recounts a field visit paid to one of the contestants of the Business Plan Competition that occurred in 2015. The Business Plan Competition, themed "Gera Ku Ntego: Youth breaking the Cycle of Poverty,” benefited more than 2,081 entrepreneurial-minded youth who graduated with skills to manage their businesses efficiently.

Too often people embark on business without carefully checking out their ideas to see if it will work. If you're starting out with an idea and nothing built yet, your first goal should be to prove if the product you want to build solves a community problem.

On March 8th, Rwanda joined the world in celebrations of the 2016 International Women’s Day themed “Step it up for gender equality, strive for women's empowerment” with various events across the country.
